Moog Messenger

Moog Messenger

The Moog Messenger is a monophonic analog synthesizer built around two wide-range VCOs with waveshaping and wavefolding, a sub oscillator, and a noise generator. The oscillators sweep continuously through triangle, sawtooth, square, and pulse waveforms, and turning the shape control anticlockwise from triangle takes you into wave-folding territory, which opens up a range of overtone-rich tones not typically available on a standard Moog. Oscillator sync and FM are both on board, and the whole thing feeds into an updated Moog ladder filter with a pole-mixing design that lets you select 4-pole lowpass, 2-pole lowpass, bandpass, or highpass responses — the first time Moog has offered multimode filtering on a flagship monosynth.

The Messenger runs 256 preset slots alongside a 64-step sequencer with generative features, dual ADSR envelopes, two LFOs with deep modulation routing, and a 32-key keyboard that handles both velocity and aftertouch. I/O covers CV, 5-pin DIN MIDI, USB-C MIDI, an external audio input, and a headphone output. It sits as Moog’s most accessible hardware synthesizer and delivers the core Moog ladder filter character in a compact, modern format.
