Beatstep Pro
The Beatstep Pro is a standalone hardware sequencer with three independent sequencers on board: two melodic/chromatic step sequencers and one drum sequencer with 16 tracks. Each melodic sequencer runs up to 16 steps with per-step control over pitch, velocity, gate length, and probability — the probability parameter makes it useful for building evolving sequences that need a live, slightly unpredictable feel rather than locked loops. All three sequencers can run at different lengths and time divisions simultaneously, which makes polyrhythmic structures straightforward to set up.
Connectivity is where it separates itself from purely software-based sequencing. It outputs MIDI via USB and DIN, plus two CV/Gate pairs and a separate drum CV output, so it talks to hardware synthesizers and modular systems directly without a converter in the chain. The 16 pressure-sensitive pads double as a chromatic performance surface and a step input method. For a producer working at the intersection of DAW-based production and hardware, the Beatstep Pro sits at a useful junction between the two worlds.
