Pigments 7
Pigments is Arturia’s flagship software synthesizer, a polyphonic instrument that combines four synthesis engines in a single voice architecture. The engines available are Wavetable (with a 1,400+ wavetable library and custom import), Virtual Analog (a full-featured subtractive engine), Harmonic (additive synthesis with up to 512 partials), and Sample (multi-sample playback with slicing and granular modes). Any two engines can run simultaneously, each with its own filter, and their outputs are blended before entering a shared effects chain. Version 5 adds a new Sample engine built around Arturia’s Tape Cassette sample packs and expanded granular capabilities.
The modulation system is visual and direct: every modulatable parameter appears as a ring around its knob once a modulation source is active, and routing is handled by drag-and-drop from a source to any target. Three independent arpeggiators and a polyphonic sequencer are built in, along with a 16-slot effects chain covering reverb, delay, chorus, distortion, and filtering. Pigments runs as VST3, AU, and AAX on Windows and macOS, with full Apple Silicon support.
