SPL Transient Designer Plus

The Transient Designer Plus is the plugin version of SPL’s classic hardware transient shaper, one of the first devices to offer level-independent transient control. Instead of using threshold-based gain reduction, it operates on the differential envelope of the signal, detecting the rate of amplitude change rather than the absolute level. This means attack and sustain can be shaped without the behaviour changing as input levels fluctuate.

The Plus version extends the original two-knob Attack/Sustain design with additional controls: an integrated compressor and a parametric high-frequency peak filter. The compressor adds conventional level-dependent gain control alongside the transient shaping, and the HF peak can be used to add presence or control harshness in the attack phase. The plugin adds sidechain filtering options not available on the original hardware, and covers both mono and stereo operation.
