Presswerk

Presswerk is a compressor modelled on the topology of classic hardware units, with particular attention paid to the character differences between feed-forward and feed-back detection circuits. It offers three detection modes (FF, FB, and an Interactive mode that blends both behaviours), a variable knee, independent attack and release controls, and an internal parallel mix knob so you can blend compressed and dry signal without external routing. A sidechain input is included for ducking and sidechain pumping applications.

What sets Presswerk apart from a straightforward utility compressor is the saturation stage, which adds harmonic colour ranging from subtle warmth to heavier tape-style drive. The combination of circuit-modelled detection behaviour and the saturation section means the plugin responds differently depending on how hard you push it, making it useful for both transparent gain control and for adding texture to individual tracks or bus material.
