smart:eq 4
smart:eq 4 is an equalizer built around Sonible’s AI-driven spectral balancing engine. The core feature is the smart:filter, which analyzes your audio against a selected Profile (covering instrument types and genres) and applies corrective EQ to bring the track into tonal balance. It operates in three modes: Track mode applies balancing to the individual channel, Group mode leaves the channel untouched but reduces masking between it and other group members, and Track & Group combines both. This cross-channel unmasking is handled in real time across multiple instances, so you can manage spectral relationships across a whole session from a single plugin window.
Alongside the smart:filter, the EQ bands support dynamic behavior with familiar threshold, ratio, and attack/release controls, so you can run frequency-specific compression without leaving the plugin. There’s also mid-side processing, an auto-gain feature that compensates for level changes as you adjust the smart:filter intensity, and a multi-instance analyzer that displays all grouped tracks simultaneously. Runs as VST3, AU, and AAX on Mac and Windows.
More and more my go to EQ these days.
