SPL Vitalizer MK2-T

The Vitalizer MK2-T is a psychoacoustic signal processor modelled on SPL’s hardware unit of the same name. Its core function is to enhance perceived loudness and clarity without simply raising gain, using a combination of dynamic mid-range processing, bass enhancement via phase shift, and high-frequency spectral enhancement. The bass section uses a tunable shelving boost that operates partly through phase manipulation to improve low-frequency punch and definition. The high section generates harmonics in the upper frequencies to add air and presence.

The plugin includes an LC filter on the mid-range processor and a stereo width control for mid/side processing of the stereo image. An output soft-clip stage prevents digital overload. Originally designed as a mastering tool for adding analog-style enhancement, it’s commonly used at the end of a mix bus chain or at the start of a mastering chain, where small adjustments translate to meaningful changes in perceived energy and depth.
